Online Psychology Tutoring review by Hannah
On Sunday Oct 20th (day after I met with student), she sent me a draft of her essay to review. She emailed me and wrote: "Thank you so much for your help yesterday. I think I finally realized how philosophy papers are much different than standard English papers. I am attaching a draft of my paper in this email. I think my second essay is stronger than the first. In the first essay I think my structure gets a bit confusing, and I start to sound repetitive. Should I cut some material out that complicates the essay and ruins its structure? If you can take a quick look at this and let me know, that would be great!" I spent an hour giving the student feedback on her essays, mostly centering around topics/ideas we had gone over in the session. I emailed it back to her with my comments and essay structure notes. I am entering this so late because I needed to check with the director to make sure it was ok that I gave her feedback though we did not meet in person.

The student and I reviewed the fundamentals behind the categorical syllogism, along with categorical propositions, as such. This involved a review of the 5 rules for a categorical syllogism, the 4 figures, the valid moods for each, the square of opposition, and the conversion rules for categorical statements (that is, converse, obverse, and contraposition). I gave her my own notes on this, then we looked at actual problems involving all these concepts. I reviewed her homework on the matter, and went through all of the problems on categorical syllogisms. After this, I helped her start the remainder of the homework, by showing her how to do each of the different problems involving truth tables. These had to do with determining whether a proposition was self-contradictory, tautologies, or contingent, as well as determining the validity of an argument through truth tables.

Gathered newly posted course materials on the site and made note of assigned readings, quiz, and lectures. Watched lecture and homework help videos together while taking notes and occasionally stopping to highlight and discuss important concepts. The student will need to type the homework to turn in tomorrow as well as do more throughout readings of the first chapter of each of the textbooks. Next session planned for 2 hours on Tuesday starting at 2:00pm.

We went over the study guide for her upcoming test (i.e. utilitarianism, deontology, etc.). I saw no scores/grades. She struggled the most with deontology. I left her with suggestions for ways to study.

The student and I spent the first part of our session today reviewing her peers' answers to the weekly discussion question on the discussion board and crafting responses to them. After we had responded to the professor and several students, we started working on the discussion question for the next unit. This assignment asks students to evaluate a hypothetical interaction between a police officer and a young boy accused of shoplifting. We completed about half of the essay and will finish it on Friday.

What is Psychology?

Psychology is best thought of as the scientific study of the mind and of behavior. When compared to other scientific disciplines like physics, psychology is a relatively new field of study. In fact, modern psychology has only emerged and advanced in prominence over the past 150 years. However, despite psychology being a relatively new area of scientific study, it has grown rapidly and expansively. Today, there are many different subspecialties within the field of psychology that students can study. Each of these sub-disciplines attempts to answer unique questions about the mind and human behavior.

For example, psychology today includes fields like human development, social behavior, medicine, and more. Psychologists are even valued in the sports world and often spend time working with athletes during their training and competitive processes. What distinguishes psychology today from the psychology of the ancient world are its roots in science. In the past, famous thinkers like Plato and Socrates thought of psychology from more of a philosophical perspective.

Some of the advances in modern psychology can be traced back to the 1960s and the work of William James. James worked to develop a psychological approach called fundamentalism. This is a theory that the mind is always changing. Fundamentalism in psychology says that experiential factors are not significant influences. Another viewpoint, Structuralism, was developed by Wilhelm Wundt. His work involved researching subjects' mental processes while they performed a number of different tasks. Today, Wundt is credited with separating psychology from philosophy through his objective analysis of the human mind.

Learning Psychology

You can study psychology at both the high school and college levels. For example, many high school students decide to take AP psychology. This is a course that gives the high school student an opportunity to earn college credit for their coursework. To get this credit, though, they'll first need to pass an AP exam on psychology at the end of their school year.

Students in college are able to explore psychology on a deeper level. Typically, however, these students will start with an introductory psychology course. This is a course that may cover a variety of topics. Some of the psychological concepts that are usually discussed in an entry-level college course are human memory, cognition and intelligence, motivation and emotion, human development, and much more.

After the college student completes their require introductory psychology courses, they can move on to pursue studies in more specialized areas of the field. For example, many universities have psychology degree courses in subdisciplines like cognitive, abnormal, social, and personality psychology. You can also earn a psychology degree that ties together with other areas like statistics or sociology.

Whether you're a high school student, an entry-level college student, or an advanced degree student, you can get help with your psychology studies by signing up to work with psychology tutors. Working with a tutor is a unique way to pursue academic growth. You'll be able to focus on the specific psychology topics that you need to learn more about. You can also quickly breeze through the topics that you already understand at a high level. This creates a learning process that is efficient and effective.

Testing and Psychology

Students often find it beneficial to work with a psychology tutor as they prepare for an important psychology test. For example, as discussed in the previous section, if you're a high school student then you may have decided to take AP psychology. This class involves taking a test at the end of the year. If you perform well on this test, then you can earn college credit for your AP course. However, if you aren't able to earn a high enough score on the exam, then you won't be able to get this valuable college credit. That's why it's important to prepare for the AP psychology exam to the best of your abilities.

The AP test for psychology has a two-hour time limit and consists of two sections. The first section features 100 multiple-choice questions and has a 70-minute time limit. Here, you'll be asked to define and explain the content that you learned about in your course. You'll need to apply your skills of comparison and interpretation in the context of psychological theories and concepts. The second section of the exam has two free response questions and a time limit of 50 minutes. Here, you'll be asked to analyze a scenario by using some of the theoretical frameworks that you learned about in your class. You'll also be asked to either analyze, design, or critique a research study.

Psychology tutoring can help you develop your understanding of all of the material that you need to know about this important test. When you sign up to get help from psychology tutors, you'll be able to focus on the content that is most important to you. Your instructor can spend time going over the various frameworks that you learned about in class and can give you additional insights that may help you feel more confident on the day of your exam.

While you learn about the psychology topics you need to know for your upcoming test, you can also get help with your general test-taking skills. For example, have you ever dealt with test anxiety? If so, you know that when you experience test anxiety it becomes hard to focus on the test you're taking. If you've struggled with this in the past, then your educator can spend some of your time together showing you relaxation techniques that you can use to overcome test anxiety when it arises.

Similarly, your instructor can also spend some of your time together showing you how to do things like managing your time more effectively when taking important tests. Through working with your psychology tutor, you'll also get a sense of what an ideal test preparation process looks like. This gives you something to model in the future when you need to prepare for another important exam. These skills are things that you'll be able to utilize on your upcoming test as well as on any exams that you take in the future.

How Does Psychology Tutoring Work?

You can get started with this process by contacting 大象传媒. When you first reach out to us, we'll work with you to identify your academic and scheduling needs. Then, we'll make every effort to connect you with an instructor who can meet these needs for you. This makes it easy to get started with this unique academic supplement. You won't have to worry about making too many sacrifices in the other important parts of your life when you sign up to work with a private psychology instructor.

Once you get connected with your instructor, you can start meeting with them for a series of one-on-one lessons. These lessons can be customized to meet whatever academic goals you have. They will be targeted with your growth in mind. You can then start working through each of these lessons at your own pace. You'll be able to take as much or as little time as you need to understand each topic at a high level. This makes private instruction a very efficient and effective learning experience.

This type of personalized assistance is hard to match through other academic opportunities. For example, classroom learning is an effective means of developing new skills. However, it is targeted with the group's needs in mind rather than your needs. That's why tutoring is such an effective learning supplement. You can easily bridge the gap between the instruction that you need and the instruction that you're currently getting in the classroom.
