Each Part is broken into Morning and Afternoon sessions lasting three and a half hours each. Including scheduled breaks and the optional tutorial and post-test survey, the total testing time is eight and a half hours. Your intellectual stamina is tested just as much as your content knowledge, so you may want to build your stamina up during NBDHE tutoring sessions. Your tutor may administer practice exams so that you know what testing for so long feels like before it counts.
Practice exams taken during graduate NBDHE tutoring sessions have several other advantages as well. For example, reviewing practice exams with your tutor may reveal certain strengths and weaknesses that you did not realize you had. Both exams also have some "testlet" questions that not only test what a candidate knows, but also if they can apply that knowledge to a patient's care. Roughly 20% of each test is some sort of interdisciplinary or patient case study, so you need to know how to handle these questions. Your tutor may be able to provide test-taking tips to help you out, especially identifying certain words that may change the entire meaning of a question.
