Law Tutoring FAQ
Whether you are a student in law school, an undergraduate pursuing political science, or just taking a high school-level course in introductory law, you'll quickly learn that law exists less as a binary of legal and illegal and more as a relative, complex set of rules that are rich in gray areas. Law tutoring can help you understand these gray areas and teach you to apply a nuanced understanding of the law to real-world cases, just as a lawyer does. The first step to succeeding in a law course is being able to think critically, and ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ can connect you with a law tutor who can help you develop this mindset.
Whether you are a first-year law student seeking extra help in torts, contracts, civil procedure, criminal law, property law, constitutional law, or legal methods, or a third-year student who may need help in courses like corporate finance or antitrust law, you will find law tutoring useful. Even if you are taking a constitutional law class as part of a political science major program, you may find law tutoring useful. Each tutor is skilled in breaking down difficult concepts and giving practical explanations to untangle complicated legal interpretations.
In addition to helping you understand the material in your law course, a private tutor can help you to apply the material you've learned to novel situations, readying you for homework and assessments that include case vignettes and fact patterns. Tutors can help you to develop a line of logic using the new material you have learned, apply that logic to a case, and express your argument orally or using the written word in an effective, concise way. If you're looking to become a stronger law student, having a tutor on your side may be the key to succeeding in a difficult course. We can help you find a law tutor that can provide insight to help you gain the skills necessary to succeed in law courses.
Throughout each session, your tutor will use a personalized lesson plan that is based around your learning style, as well as the type of law you are learning about, the concepts you find most difficult, and a host of other factors. You may be given specific learning materials that can be used alongside your coursework. In addition, your tutor may use assessment tests or other strategies to identify your weak and strong points. This allows them to fine-tune your learning plan depending on your progress. This type of flexibility and personalization simply cannot be done in a traditional school setting. Rather than working at the average pace of your classmates, you are able to work at your own rate and ask questions as you need to. Plus, you can request additional sessions at any point. For instance, If you have an upcoming exam at school, you can ask your tutor for sessions that focus on the concepts you will be tested on.
Law tutoring is designed to meet your academic needs and schedule. Tutors are flexible in the times and places they can meet, so if your law library is the most convenient place for you to learn, your tutor can accommodate your preference. If you prefer to conduct sessions online, you and your tutor can connect through our live learning platform, which enables face-to-face sessions from the comfort of your own home.
If you think law tutoring may help you in any of your legal classes, give ΄σΟσ΄«Γ½ a call today for more information. Recent Law Tutoring Session Notes
We went over writing a Legal Memo. Analyzed cases and went over his specific assignment. I gave him a sample memo and words to use to help his memo flow.
The student and I worked solely on an article she was responsible for from class earlier this week. She was having a lot of trouble understanding the terminology and concepts within the article. The session went well, but she expressed that she would like to speed up our reviews and look over articles at a faster rate, so maybe two to three articles per tutoring session.
We reviewed Constitutional Law and Contracts in preparation for the exam. We discussed the example cases and came up with numerous examples to apply the concepts of the Commerce Clause and the basics of offer and acceptance among numerous other topics.
The tutoring session covered an assignment related to a business law course, specifically gleaning information from a financial report and balance sheet. The most difficult part of the assignment was the complex language. Additionally, the assignment was due soon, so there wasn't time to answer specific questions and adequately cover the general concepts. The challenge will be to generalize the accounting principles from the specific report. I thought we made good headway for an initial tutoring session.
The student was working on an advice letter relating to tenant landlord matters in a commercial setting. I reviewed her paper and provide content suggestions. Specifically, we discussed applying relevant laws to the client's specific circumstances. Additionally, we addressed the overall structure and missing elements. I also completed some proofreading. The student made additional revisions, then we briefly reviewed the changes. I made some final suggestions about shepardizing and some final grammar and punctuation notes. At this point, the assignment is complete so additional tutoring for this project is not necessary.
Today we worked on an assignment for the student's bioethics class. She is tasked with writing a paper on an issue, by providing a moral premise, non moral premise and conclusion. Today, we wrote her thesis statement, worked on an outline, conclusion, formatting and selecting references for her use. We also reworked some of the work she had already completed to make it more directed and concise.
