If you're looking for expert assistance with your Ann Arbor LSAT prep, 大象传媒 can connect you with two services that could help you prepare for the exam. The Law School Admission Test, or LSAT for short, is a high-stakes exam written to help law schools such as the University of Michigan Law School identify strong applicants for admission. In fact, it is the only exam considered valid by every ABA-accredited law school in the United States. Studying for this exam can feel intimidating, but it doesn't have to be.
If you want to study in a structured classroom learning environment, we can set you up in an Ann Arbor LSAT prep course to accommodate your needs. If you would prefer to receive personalized attention as you work toward academic success, we can connect you with an Ann Arbor LSAT tutor instead. Either way, you'll enjoy a test prep experience unlike any other.
What content areas does Ann Arbor LSAT prep generally cover?
The LSAT is a digital assessment consisting of four sections: Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. Each of the first three sections is presented in multiple-choice formats on a tablet provided by the testing center, meaning that you indicate your responses by tapping them instead of filling in a circle. The tablet is equipped with some handy test-taking tools, including highlighting capabilities, flagging functionality to quickly return to previous items, and an automatic five-minute warning when you're running low on time. Every multiple-choice section on the LSAT lasts 35 minutes, and you are scored on a scale from 120-180.
In contrast, the Writing section is administered on a different device during a different testing session. You still have 35 minutes to compose your answer, and you must sit for it within one calendar year of taking the rest of the exam. Here is a closer look at what you can expect to see on each section of the LSAT:
1. Reading Comprehension
The Reading Comprehension section intentionally uses long-form, dense passages to mimic the types of material that lawyers work with on an everyday basis. You need to able to identify the main idea and supporting details, utilize context to define unfamiliar words and phrases, make inferences based on what you read, and identify how factors like organization and tone affect an author's meaning.
2. Analytical Reasoning
The examination's Analytical Reasoning section measures how well test-takers understand the structure of relationships and how to draw conclusions from them. You'll need to evaluate truth statements (determining whether something could or must be true based on certain information), work with conditional statements, and recognize equivalent statements in order to succeed in this section.
3. Logical Reasoning
The Logical Reasoning section is all about making and analyzing arguments. Some of the skills assessed on this section include reasoning by analogy, drawing conclusions by interpreting evidence, identifying flaws in an argument, recognizing points of disagreement and misunderstandings, and identifying how hypothetical information might impact a case. The arguments you'll be working with are drawn from a variety of sources, including ads, magazines, newspapers, informal discourse, and academic articles. There are two Logical Reasoning sections on every LSAT, making it one of the most important sections on the test.
4. Writing
The Writing section presents test-takers with a decision problem and two possible responses. Your job is to pick one side over the other and write a persuasive essay defending your choice. Your opinion is not important, as law schools only look at your command of written English, reasoning, clarity, organization, and language choice in evaluating your response. This is a vital section even though you do not receive a numerical score on it, as a copy is provided to every law school you apply to.
What are the benefits of each of the Ann Arbor LSAT preparation options I can choose from?
If you decide to take an Ann Arbor LSAT prep class, you'll study with a knowledgeable instructor and several other classmates over our live virtual platform. You'll attend classes in an online classroom that facilitates real-time interactions with your instructor and your peers, creating a sense of togetherness even if you are miles apart geographically. Asking for help is as easy as raising your (digital) hand, and you can discuss issues with your classmates, too.
Working with other students offers several advantages that you might not immediately think of. For example, you can take turns arguing different sides of a topic in order to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the entire issue. Similarly, reviewing another student's essay outline may encourage you to consider future assignments in a whole new way.
That said, sometimes you feel like you need individualized instruction in order to pursue your goals. Working with a private tutor allows you to study at your preferred pace, whether that means slowing down to achieve a greater conceptual understanding of a topic or speeding up to keep sessions engaging and productive. Your tutor can also tailor their methods to your unique learning style to boost your study efficiency. You can have sessions online, using our Live Learning Platform, which takes the commute out of private instruction. Or, you can choose to meet your instructor in person at a time and place that works for you.
You can also take practice tests during your private study sessions to develop a better sense of what the actual test will be like. For example, gaining some experience working with the time available to you on test day may make it easier to budget your time and answer every question. Similarly, understanding how the LSAT tends to word questions can help you feel more comfortable during the actual exam. If you're dealing with test anxiety, your instructor might also show you meditation techniques to help you calm your nerves.

I have worked with students of all ages, from 3 year olds learning phonics to graduate students studying histology and physiology.
