After graduating with my Bachelor's degree in nursing, I practiced adult acute and critical care nursing for several years. I realized my passion for teaching when I had the opportunity to mentor and support the new graduate nurses in our unit. I later received my Master's and Doctoral degrees in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. I enjoyed teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing students at San Jose State University for the past 20 years. I am recently retired, and I welcome the opportunity to tutor student nurses and students in the healthcare field. I use learner-centered strategies to help students analyze complex topics in a fun and logical way that enhances retention of concepts. My favorite areas are cardiac, respiratory, renal, basic ECG, and all medical-surgical nursing topics. NCLEX-RN prep is also a favorite focus of mine. A strong foundation in the sciences is essential for those who are successful in the healthcare arena. I am dedicated to life-long learning, and I look forward to helping others grow in their knowledge of healthcare topics.
