Marwa
Certified Tutor
I am applying for this opportunity because I enjoy helping students thriving educationally. I also have experience in working with students aged 16+ with special education needs. I also worked at Nova Training Centre as a maths tutor for almost a year, I have learnt how to adapt my teaching style to meet induvial needs, create ILP and complete a review of progress on a regular basis to monitor progression.
In November 2018, I was appointed to teach apprentices maths and ICT functional skills. My duty involved preparing and delivering lessons, marking as well as managing behaviours and dealing with learners needs. I have taught different levels of Maths and ICT which helped me to adapt my way of teaching and preparation to meet different levels of needs by using different level of activities and different techniques. Since I started work at Kidderminster College as an LSP, I have been supporting maths classes (GCSE and functional skills) helping learners to achieve their targets by using different techniques and strategies to meet individuals or group needs. During this time I had been working closely to learners to assess their learning and to provide help and support when it was required. Being an LSP has enhanced my knowledge of different teaching methods and has made me more familiar with College systems (such as BKSB, E-Tracker, VLE, spiral and MST). I have also been attending a few training sessions that help with dealing with managing different behaviours.
Working as a1:1 facilitator has involved me to organise students work, motivate them, help them to build their confidence and provide feedback on their work as these aspects are part of the teaching role. Learners have been receiving this support they have been submitting their work on time which gets them to achieve their target grades for their main course as well as English and maths. In addition, I have remotely supported a learner during lockdown with his main course, English and maths as a result he managed to achieve distinction in his course, he had attained grade 4 in English and grade 3 in maths and managed to secure a place in university.
Being a maths teacher has enhanced my ability to deal with different learners who has different needs and skills to help them to enjoy studying maths, for example, I use to link maths to the course that the learner was studying to help them to understand the reason for them to be in the classroom and how improving their maths skills can help them to progress in their career. Throughout completing my degree I also had to study different branches of maths which allows me to develop my skills and my experience. I am confident that I have the knowledge, ability to inspire learners to learn.
