Certified Tutor
Since graduation from medical school, I have always been in touch with teaching and tutoring, starting from tutoring medical students and interns in the hospital wards, then more recently teaching the United States Medical Licensing exam (USMLE) to friends and colleagues up until today. I'm an international physician with American certification.
I passed all USMLE exams. I have received ECFMG certification (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) from Philadelphia, and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from California School for health sciences.
In addition, I had almost a year of language teaching experience at the Dearborn Community Center weekend school here in Michigan. Recently, I have been tutoring various clinical subjects as well as their basic principles such as those related to anatomy and physiology. Again, with the friendly interactive approach that I use, I often receive a very positive feedback on many of the sessions that we do together. So, I'm glad to welcome students in the different fields that emphasize the study of basic or clinical health sciences, namely those subjects that I'm going to mention below, with a little more detail.
I will be delighted to spend afternoon hours tutoring students in areas of nursing, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology and more. In fact, my interest in teaching comes from my continuous desire to learn and read, realizing that being a tutor means that I'm in a dynamic viable educational environment. This is something that I would like to share with my students, as I believe we should enjoy what we learn. I'm personally a friendly, humble, science-loving person. I hope and believe that this will be reflected very positively on my students as well.
Now, you might wonder what kind of a plan will be used as we work together on any of those subject areas. Here are some tips on the key strategies that we will be using as we go through any of those subjects.
Nursing, for example, is a subject that is highly clinical in nature. As I have been in contact with the different types of nursing tasks that are performed both in the hospital wards and in the ER, I can say that making use of this clinical experience will definitely help you become a successful nurse. You should also be aware of the importance of math in performing a nursing task such as calculating medication doses especially when giving those preparations to different age groups. In regards to anatomy, you need to understand that it is a subject which can be effectively understood through images and possibly videos, as much of anatomy is about visual memory.
Likewise, physiology has its own unique nature, and needs you to handle the material in a unique way too. So, graphic representations and curves come to play a significant role here. Last but not least, microbiology with those numerous bugs and drugs can be largely simplified using flow charts. In addition, I will be glad to have you involved with your own thoughts on what needs to be improved. And remember, there will be homework, and self-assessment tools that will be used periodically to monitor your progress.
I look forward to hearing from you and to working together on your subjects of interest!
