Certified Tutor
I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and minors in Mathematics and Spanish from Saint Louis University, and a Master of Accountancy degree from University of Missouri Columbia.
I have had a wide variety of experiences as an educator over the past 9 years. I love tutoring in a one-on-one setting and helping students achieve their educational goals. In both undergraduate and graduate school, I worked as a tutor for the college athletic departments. I tutored numerous college athletes in various math and business subjects such as Accounting I and II, College Algebra, Pre-calculus and Calculus I and II. During college, I also worked as a Supplemental Instructor for Saint Louis Community College's math department and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for University of Missouri Columbia's accounting department, teaching 2-3 supplemental lessons per week to College Algebra students and 2-3 classes of 30-40 students per week to Accounting I students, respectively. Subsequent to graduate school, I continued to work in the education field on a part-time basis, as an adjunct professor for Fontbonne University's Master in Accounting (MACC) and Master in Business Administration (MBA) Programs, where I was responsible for teaching various accounting courses; such as Intermediate Accounting I and II, Managerial Accounting, and Accounting Information Systems.
On a full-time basis, I am a CPA and have been working in the corporate industry for the past 6 years 5 years at a global CPA firm and a little over 1 year in a corporate controllership function. Education is something that is extremely important to me and I love working with students and seeing them achieve their educational goals. I think that having great patience and truly caring about my tutees' educational development are two things that help me to be a great tutor. I am completely invested in the students that I teach and am willing to spend the time to ensure that my students completely understand the course material that needs to be learned. I am also very flexible with varied learning styles and can quickly adjust my teaching methods to meet each student's individual educational needs.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, collecting and listening to music, shopping and spending time with family and friends. I am also a pretty creative person and loved taking art classes in high school -- I recently moved into a new apartment and am very excited about decorating the new space!
