Tutoring review by Lauren in Pleasant Grove, UT
The student and I worked on some homework corrections and then looked at two new sections. She seemed to have a little difficulty with the lessons surrounding last weekend, but we made it through as much as we could. She had a great attitude! Good job!

The student and I worked through practice multiple choice questions from her study guide. I let the student attempt the problems first, and only when she got stuck or had a misunderstanding, did I jump in to assist. Overall, she has a strong understanding of Calculus concepts.

The student and I met last night to work on her chemistry project, which was a three-dimensional display of the element Oxygen, including various fun facts. I helped the student stay on topic as we researched the element together, noting basic facts such as atomic number and atomic mass. We then looked into the history, including the two discoverers of oxygen and their method of discovery. We finished by selecting various fun facts for the student to include in her display.

Tutoring review by Luke in Pleasant Grove, UT
Today we covered vector arithmetic and polar coordinate algebra, as well as some special situations with graphs, roots, and exponentiation in the context of complex numbers. I'll send him extra material on all of these subjects. We also covered introductory trigonometry, including several basic aspects of the unit circle and the triangles that generate sine and cosine values. I introduced the student to the concept of tau = 2 * pi, which helps generate the radian measurements of the unit circle more naturally (and, he may discover later, has some interesting effects in many physics equations - I'll send him a video on this, of course). He seemed to find it interesting and potentially useful. I also discussed a significant point of philosophy in this process as the student dismissed the importance of remembering an equation. We continued moving through the entirety of unit 14. There were a couple small hang-ups where I helped him think a little more clearly about a few things, but, in general, I certainly think he would have figured everything out on his own, albeit more slowly. During the session, I also interjected with a reading of The Raven. I thought he might find it interesting to hear the poem read correctly, and I think he was torn between finding it interesting and intellectualizing away its value. This, of course, is a common challenge of increasingly deep introspection as the rational mind develops. Still, he at least acknowledged the surprising quality of its rhyme. I intend to break down the process by which Poe's sentences were formed sometime in the future in the hopes that he might learn something about its sentence structure and flow. Toward the end of our session, he agreed to email me a link to his class resources (and his login information) so that I can investigate his future material and provide him with some extra resources when we meet again.

Tutoring review by Brian in Pleasant Grove, UT
The student and I reviewed his latest exam. I was quite pleased with how quickly we were able to cover the concepts on the exam. We reviewed matrix algebra (addition and multiplication) and polar coordinate systems. One of the student's issues with test taking is that he leaves some questions blank, rather than attempting them at all. This results in him missing out on available partial credit. I told him in the future to at least copy down the problem if he is unsure and attempt to go through at least one step. He has a test coming up on Wednesday, and I told him to email me any additional questions he has and I will try to get back to him quickly.
