Tutoring review by Andrew in Douglas County, NE
The student didn't have any major homework that needed to be worked on, so I worked with him on the skill of being able to find the M.A.D. of a number set. We worked on a number of various examples from this skill and he showed that he is able to pick up new ideas extremely quickly. At the end of our session, he realized that he needed to get quizzed on half lives for science. We worked on that for the remaining 30 minutes of the session. I also gave him a tool for the next week or so since we will not be meeting next week. The website was focused on estimation and number sense. I see tremendous progress each and every week and continue to be very impressed with him and his work ethic.

Tutoring review by Zachary in Douglas County, NE
We covered parent functions of quadratics. We did a brief review of vertex form vs standard form and then covered concepts related to parabolas like axis of symmetry. The student didn't struggle with today's material too much and had a good attitude. Test taking strategies were covered (eliminating obviously wrong answers first) and I reminded her of what a credit hour means to the university (3 hours of outside class time for every credit hour) in order to help motivate her to work hard outside of class.

We played a Jeopardy game that I made with flash cards. It had 17 questions in total and covered material that we have been going over for the past few weeks, so it was a fun way to review. The student seemed to enjoy it. It covered factoring, exponents, shapes, scientific notation, etc. He has significantly improved on his factoring skills since we first started having sessions.

The student and I warmed up by playing a problem solving game together and we continued this game during the breaks throughout our session. We then reviewed the order of operations and did practice problems while explaining our thought process behind each solution. We then moved on to reviewing complex addition and subtraction. We will cover multiplication and division next week before her school year starts.
