I graduated from Plymouth University with a BA in English Literature and an MA in Heritage Theory and Practice. I have been tutoring since 2022 and although my specialism is English Literature, I also tutor in maths up to GCSE level. I have found that students appreciate the different approach towards maths that I can bring as a humanities specialist. Often, in schools, maths and English are presented and taught as two very separate subjects and therefore students can struggle if they think they're "not good at" STEM or humanities. I like to challenge this attitude and show students that the subjects are actually much more similar than they might think. In addition to tutoring in maths and English, I am also a TEFL certified teacher of English as a second or additional language and teach a wide range of students, from primary age children to adults, and from A1 to C2 level ability. I am incredibly enthusiastic about learning (having taken a short break from studying I now realise I want to return to university to study for a PhD) and believe that all students should be given a chance to find a learning style that makes them feel the same way!
