John Jay
(1745-1829)
He negotiated聽Jay's Treaty聽with Great Britain to settle disputes over debts and navigation. John Jay was a statesman, diplomat, first Chief Justice of the U.S. President of Continental Congress, minister to Spain, secretary of foreign affairs, and author of the Federalist Papers (with Madison and Hamilton).
