Hello! My name is Navid Faiyaz, and I'm a final-year Computer Science student at Concordia University who just happens to have a deep passion for teaching. I've been tutoring students ever since I was in 11th grade (almost six years), and I started with tutoring elementary students in batches of 2 or 3. After moving abroad for my undergrad, I worked as a STEM tutor for an online-based tutoring service, Paper, for more than one and a half years where I tutored students all the way from grade 1 to pre-university. I adore working with kids so much, I took up a job as a camp counselor last summer, where along with a plethora of different activities, I took math and chess classes, as well.
As for my subjects of expertise, I primarily tutor science subjects, such as physics, chemistry, biology, and of course, mathematics and computer science. I absolutely love tutoring math because, as Galileo so wisely said, "Mathematics is the language with which God has written the universe." I firmly believe that any human being would fall in live with the field of mathematics if only they were taught the right way and I hope to teach it to you the right way.
When it comes to my teaching methodology, I believe in the Socratic method. Instead of giving out answers, I guide my students and provide them with tools to help them reach the final answer. This approach not only boosts their confidence but also enhances their understanding of the concept.
Outside of academia, I enjoy playing chess and reading books. I play a lot of sports but primarily football (soccer for all my North Americans), and of course, I hop on the PS5 from time to time to run some games with my friends.
Well, that's all for me. I hope you find me a good fit, and I really look forward to sharing my enthusiasm and knowledge with you and learning from you too!
