Certified Tutor
I graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manitoba in 2017 and have been working with the federal government as a researcher. I have more than a decade of experience instructing and tutoring students in economics and statistics. Some of the courses I have taught include principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, quantitative economics, econometrics, intermediate macroeconomics and microeconomics, financial economics and international finance.
Throughout my decade of teaching experience, I have learned that a good teacher is ultimately a good storyteller. Critical attributes of a good storyteller are coherence and consistency, as well as the ability to capture and sustain most of the audience's attention. This is the guiding principle that drives my teaching. Most of my lectures start with real-life examples that most students can relate to. Once I have their attention, I sustain it by contrasting the theoretical foundations of the lesson with empirical evidence. In my assessments, this approach has paid off, and most students have consistently reported that they have learnt something in the course they consider valuable. With this approach, my students leave my class with good grades and a better appreciation of how economics impacts their daily lives.
