I am a driven person who doesn't easily back down from a difficult problem. Graduated from Saint Cloud State University with a Bachelors of Science in physics, I tackle problems that require time and patience to solve them and a will to keep at it. I have tutored students in both mathematics and physics since the two subjects go hand in hand. My tutoring style involves assessing what the student knows about the subject and using that information to build a plan to expand their knowledge using an active learning approach. When I'm not doing physics, I like to go biking, play electric bass, go disc golfing, play video games, and reading philosophy texts.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Help students understand the problem and help them seek a path to solving the problem.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ask the student a series of questions to gauge where they are in their understanding of the subject, then review the foundation of the subject material to clear a path for the student to learn.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Show them different learning techniques and perspectives on a subject and how those different perspectives can illuminate understanding of a subject.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Encourage them to seek out harder problems and concepts to study and show them what the future will look like if they stick to their studies.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would seek out different methods of teaching and learning modes that fit the students way of learning, such as using physics demonstrations rather than just teaching straight from the books.
