I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in History. I love History and Politics. My insatiable curiosity for the world around me and my love for history and events led me to a career in journalism and photo-journalism.

After the historic fall of the Berlin Wall, the world witnessed events like the break-up of the former Yugoslavia and a brutal war that followed, a coup in Haiti, historic elections in South Africa, and horrific violence in Rwanda. I was determined to witness and document history and as a Journalist, I did. I was incredibly fortunate to have these amazing experiences, it shaped who I am and provided me with great insight and perspective. I worked with news and humanitarian organizations and eventually began writing and documenting humanitarian emergencies in the U.S. and overseas.


Throughout my career I have taught and mentored students. I taught high school, where I designed and implemented a curriculum for Journalism. I have continued to write and teach. I recently received a certificate from Georgetown University for Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language. I am most passionate about Writing, History and Reading, but what I love most is connecting with students. I believe critical thinking skills are fundamental to succeeding in any subject and each and every endeavor in life. We all have innate abilities. I know every student is capable of much more than they even know.
