My philosophy in teaching is to tailor the lessons to the need of the student. What works for one student might not work with another. I've learned this over the course of 14 years of tutoring as well as classroom teaching experience. My students have come from a variety of backgrounds, including special needs, and I always work hand-in-hand with parents to identify where the student needs the most help. I've taught Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic, Writing, and resume/career skills, amongst other topics. I believe that for a student to truly succeed, he or she needs to become engaged in the subject beyond the textbook. For example, that's why I incorporate music, art, culture, and media into my foreign language lessons- to make the subject come alive! Students I work with not only learn the material well, they also come away with a greater appreciation for how the subject being taught is real and applicable to their lives.
