Cassandra: CLEP Principles of Microeconomics course instructor
Hi all! I'm currently an undergraduate student at the University at Albany majoring in Actuarial and Mathematical Sciences with a minor in Economics. I was actually in seventh grade when I decided on the Actuarial Science major, and my passion hasn't changed since! I love math and I love to teach it! Fun Fact About Me: I also love music, and I play the flute in the concert band here at UAlbany. ... I believe that the best way to learn is by doing, especially when it comes to math. Practice problems are the way to go!

I am a finance and accounting professional at a Fortune 100 firm with an MBA and currently pursuing the CMA. My teaching method would absolutely vary depending on the student. Visual learners need different kind of help than non-visual. For visual learners, I would try to paint a picture of the problem or formula so it is easier for them to understand. For non-visual, I can stick more with formulas, numbers, and memorization. ... To get the student not to simply memorize how to get or find an answer, but to help them reach a level of confidence and preparation that makes the material seem second nature to them.

I believe that everyone has the ability to learn a subject given that they find the correct learning style for their needs. I have a strong background in both tutoring and teaching and would love to help students feel more satisfied with their course subjects.... I believe that the best way to teach is to start from the basics, see what the student understands and build up. If the student is not feeling confident with the basics, there will only be a continuous uphill battle. Therefore, I love to see with what information the student feels comfortable, and work up from there.
